What you need before you redeem
- The right user and Nintendo Account. Funds and games go to the Nintendo Account of the user you pick in the eShop. Nintendo says funds cannot be transferred or shared between Nintendo Accounts, so choose carefully on a shared console.
- A Nintendo Account set to a country where the eShop is available. In the Americas, Nintendo lists the eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch as available in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and the United States.
- A card for your account's country. Nintendo eShop cards bought for one country can only be redeemed on accounts set to that country. The region of every Gameplug product is in its name and on its product page before you pay. See the region section for Europe and Latin America.
- Room under the balance limit. In the Americas your total balance cannot go above USD 800, CAD 1,100 or MXN 5,000 (other countries below). Spend some funds first if a card would take you over.
- Your password or PIN. If user verification is turned on, the console may ask you to re-enter your Nintendo Account password or your PIN before the eShop opens.
- An internet connection, and for redeeming download codes on the web, a Nintendo Account that has opened the eShop on a console at least once.
- The 16-character code. Nintendo codes use letters and numbers without hyphens; letters such as O, I and Z are never used and are disabled on the on-screen keyboard.
