What is a Netflix gift card?
A Netflix gift card — also called a Netflix code, Netflix voucher or Netflix PIN — is a prepaid code worth a fixed amount in one currency. When you redeem it, the amount is stored on your Netflix account as gift card balance.
Netflix does not sell anything one item at a time, so the balance has one job: paying your membership. Each billing date, the price of your plan is taken from the gift card balance first. When the balance no longer covers a full month, you add a payment method or redeem another card to keep watching.
Who a Netflix gift card is good for
- People who would rather not keep a bank card on file with a streaming service.
- Anyone who wants to set a fixed budget for streaming and stop when it runs out.
- Gifts: a card covers someone's membership for a few months without sharing a login or a payment method.
- New members: you can start a new Netflix account and use a gift card as the way you pay.
A gift card does not change what you can watch. The catalogue, the number of screens and the video quality are set by your plan and your country, exactly as they would be with any other payment method.
Netflix card regions: why the country matters
One rule decides whether a code works: a Netflix gift card only redeems on an account in the same country, and in the same currency, as the card. A card for Germany works on a German account billed in euros, a UK card on a UK account billed in pounds, a US card on a US account billed in dollars. The country printed on every card on this page is the country it redeems in.
Your Netflix account is billed in the currency of the country where it was set up. That is why a card from another country — or the same country in a different currency — is refused, even though the films and series look the same.
