To redeem a Rockstar Games key, install the Rockstar Games Launcher on your PC, sign in with your Rockstar Games account, click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Redeem Code. Enter the activation code, select Check, make sure the account shown at the bottom of the screen is yours, tick the box and select Redeem. The game then appears under Games in the launcher, ready to install.
Below you will find what to check before you start, the launcher steps, Rockstar's activation web page, what to do with Rockstar games you own on Steam or Epic Games, how regions work for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, and how to fix the most common activation errors.
- Copy the activation code from your Gameplug order.
- Install the Rockstar Games Launcher and sign in to the Rockstar Games account that should own the game.
- Click your avatar (top right) and select Redeem Code.
- Enter the code, select Check, confirm the account shown, tick the box and select Redeem.
What you need before you redeem
- A Rockstar Games account. Rockstar's own requirements say installation and online play require signing in to a Rockstar Games account (the minimum age varies by country). This is the account that used to be called a Social Club account, which is why Rockstar's account pages still use the socialclub.rockstargames.com address.
- The Rockstar Games Launcher on a Windows PC. Rockstar lists the launcher as required software for its PC games. You install and start the game from there.
- The right account, signed in. Rockstar activation codes work once, and their content is applied permanently to the Rockstar Games account that is signed in when you redeem. It cannot be transferred to another account afterwards.
