How much data do I need for a trip to Europe?

For maps, messaging and email, a few gigabytes usually covers a week. If you share a lot of photos, make video calls or use your phone as a hotspot, choose a larger allowance or an unlimited plan.

When does the validity period start?

For most plans it starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy or install it. Each plan page states its own rule, so check it before you buy.

Can I keep my WhatsApp and my normal number?

Yes. WhatsApp stays linked to your usual number, and your physical SIM can stay in the phone for calls and texts while the eSIM handles mobile data. Your operator’s roaming rates still apply to anything that uses your home line.

Does the eSIM come with a local phone number?

Data-only plans do not. Plans listed with calls or texts include the minutes and messages shown on the plan page.

What if I run out of data?

You can buy another plan at any time. It installs the same way, from a new QR code on your reveal page.

Can I get a refund if I do not travel?

An eSIM is a digital product: once its QR code has been revealed or installed it generally cannot be refunded. If an eSIM does not work, contact support with your order number. Read the full terms on our refund policy.

Europe eSIM — Prepaid Travel Data Plans

Which Europe eSIM plan should you choose?

Start from how you use your phone when you travel, then match a plan to the length of your trip:

Maps, messaging and email use little data. For a short trip, a few gigabytes is usually enough.
Social media, photos and video calls use much more. Pick a larger allowance or a longer plan.
Streaming, hotspot for a laptop or working remotely is where unlimited plans or the largest allowances make sense.
Validity has to cover your whole stay. If you are travelling for two weeks, a 7-day plan will run out halfway.

Our fixed-data plans for Europe run from 488 MB to 500 GB, valid from 1 day to 180 days. Each plan page shows the exact allowance, validity and price before you buy.

Unlimited plans come with a daily high-speed allowance (1 GB to 5 GB per day on the plans we stock). Once you use it, the plan keeps working at reduced speed until the allowance resets the next day — the plan page shows the details.

8 of these plans also include calls or texts, shown on the plan. The rest are data-only: you can still call and message over the internet with apps such as WhatsApp or FaceTime.

Roaming in Europe: why an eSIM helps

A Europe plan covers many European countries on one eSIM — the plan page lists every country it includes, so check each stop on your route. If your home SIM is from an EU or EEA country, EU "Roam Like at Home" rules generally let you use your normal allowance across the EU, so a Europe eSIM is most useful for visitors from outside the EU, for the non-EU countries a plan includes (Switzerland, the UK, Turkey…), or when your home plan has a low fair-use limit abroad.

Does my phone support an eSIM?

Your phone needs two things: eSIM support and no carrier lock. Most recent phones have eSIM — iPhone XS, XR and newer, and most recent Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models — but some regional or budget versions do not.
